Johanna has a Masters in Neuroscience, but she has a wider interest in mental health, public health, education, culture and how people think and why they make decisions they do. Why do prisons have higher rates of mental health issues, if mental health does not equal violence?

The mental health problem prevalence is higher in prisons than in the general population, however there are not enough studies to determine if those individuals come in with mental health problems, and how many of those problems develop in the poor conditions of prisons.
